A commercially-produced image depicting a street in Shanghai, China. This streetscape features an unknown classicized structure on the left-hand side of the image. Several carriages and hand-drawn carts driven by East-Asian persons are in the street.
The reverse of this image has writing in ink, reading "View of Shanghai" This image was one of many commercially-produced images of various places and peoples in Asia likely gifted to the Spence family by the Fisk Jubilee Singers upon their return to the United States in 1890.
